    Instant Estimate25 Models607+ Real Listings

    How accurate is this estimate?

For popular models with real market data, estimates are typically within 8-12% of actual sale prices. For newer or rarer models, a standard Canada-average depreciation curve is used. Actual selling price depends on service history, accident record, battery warranty status, and buyer negotiation. Always get a physical inspection and battery health check before finalizing a used EV deal.

How EV Valuation Works in Canada

EV resale values in Canada are determined by four key factors: vehicle age, odometer reading, physical condition, and battery health.

Our calculator first applies a base depreciation using either model-specific curves (derived from real Canada used EV listings) or Canada's average EV depreciation rate of ~-3% per year. It then adjusts for condition (±5-20%), odometer (±3-5% vs Canada avg of 15,000 km/yr), and battery health (-3% to -15% if below 90%).

The result is presented as a range (estimated value ±10%) to reflect market variability. Models marked with “Real market data” use actual listing prices from Canada's used EV marketplace for higher accuracy.

Tips to Maximize Your EV Resale Value in Canada
    • Maintain battery health above 90% — avoid charging to 100% daily, use scheduled charging, and avoid leaving at 0% for extended periods.
    • Keep service records — buyers pay a premium for EVs with complete service history from authorized service centers.
    • Avoid unnecessary fast charging — frequent DC fast charging accelerates battery degradation. Home AC charging is better for battery longevity.
    • Park in shade — extreme heat degrades EV batteries faster. Canada's climate is mild, but parking in direct sun during summer adds up.
    • Original accessories and documents — keeping original charging cables, manuals, and registration documents intact adds value at resale.
    • Sell at the right time — EV prices in Canada often dip when a new model year launches. Sell 1-2 months before the manufacturer announces updates or a facelift.
Buying a Used EV in Canada — What to Check
    • Battery health report — request a readout from the manufacturer app (BYD app, MG iSmart, etc.) showing state of health (SOH). Anything below 85% needs negotiation.
    • Charging history — check if the car has a history of frequent DC fast charging, which degrades batteries faster.
    • Odometer verification — verify the odometer reading against the CarFax/AutoCheck history report. Odometer tampering is possible.
    • Test all electric systems — climate control, regenerative braking intensity, all charging ports (AC and DC), and any ADAS features.
    • Check warranty transfer — most manufacturers in Canada (Tesla, Hyundai, Kia) transfer battery warranty to the second owner. Confirm with the authorized service center before purchase.
    • Use this calculator — compare the asking price against our estimate. If the seller is asking more than the “value high” estimate, negotiate or walk away.
