The Hyundai Inster Lounge, a new luxury-focused model, has been launched in Europe, bringing a premium touch to the compact electric SUV segment. As Hyundai's smallest and most affordable electric vehicle in Europe, the Inster has already gained popularity, ranking as the second-best-selling A-segment EV in 2025. Although Canadian pricing and availability have not been announced, the Inster Lounge is expected to be a strong contender in the Canadian market, potentially qualifying for the iZEV incentive program and provincial rebates.
The Inster Lounge boasts a "premium-inspired" interior, complete with natural leather seats, premium speakers featuring Kevlar membranes, and a knitted headliner and sun visor. These added features contribute to a refined and enjoyable in-car experience, despite the vehicle's compact dimensions. The Lounge variant also comes with standard fully foldable front-row seats and adjustable second-row seats, maximizing interior space. Canadian buyers can expect a range of up to 360 kilometres, depending on the configuration, making it an ideal choice for urban commutes and road trips across the country.
The Hyundai Inster EV Lounge will be available with two battery options: a 42 kWh battery with a 95 hp (71 kW) electric motor, or a larger 49 kWh battery with a more powerful 112 hp (84 kW) motor. With a DC fast-charging capacity of 120 kW, the electric SUV can charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes, providing convenience and flexibility for Canadian drivers. This feature is particularly useful for long road trips, where access to fast-charging stations is essential.
Buyers can choose from a carefully curated range of exterior colour options, including an exclusive new Glow Mint finish, Atlas White, Unbleached Ivory, Tomboy Khaki, and Abyss Black Pearl. For the interior, Hyundai offers an exclusive Dark Grey and Mint Green combination with Glow Mint accents, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication to the vehicle's design. Canadian buyers may also appreciate the vehicle's compact size, making it easy to navigate through crowded city centre parking lots and narrow streets.
Although Canadian pricing has not been announced, the Hyundai Inster EV Lounge is priced from €29,850 ($35,000) in Germany for the 49 kWh battery option, which offers a range of up to 223 miles (360 km). As the vehicle becomes available in the Canadian market, buyers can expect competitive pricing, potentially around $40,000-$45,000, considering the current exchange rate and Canadian pricing trends. With its luxury features, compact design, and affordable pricing, the Hyundai Inster Lounge is poised to become a popular choice among Canadian electric vehicle buyers.
